Privacy

Last updated 13 August 2026

The short version. There are no accounts, no cookies and no third-party trackers. The only personal information Scout holds is an email address, and only if you asked for a price alert. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers. Email scoutfindr@gmail.com and it's deleted.

What Scout stores

WhatWhyHow long
Your email address Only if you set a price alert, so it can tell you when the price drops Until you ask for it to be removed
The product you're watching and your target price To know when to email you Same as above
Search terms, with no identifier attached To see which searches return nothing, so the tool can be improved Kept, but not linked to any person
Which shop a click went to To know which retailers are useful, and for commission tracking Kept, but not linked to any person
Prices seen for products To build the price history everyone sees Kept — it's about products, not people

What Scout does not do

About your IP address

Your IP address is used briefly, in memory, to stop one person running thousands of searches and exhausting the service. It may also appear in temporary server logs, which is normal for any website. It isn't stored alongside your searches and isn't used to identify you.

Others involved

Two outside services are unavoidably part of how this works:

When you click through to a shop, you're on their website under their privacy policy, not this one.

Price alert emails

If you set an alert, you'll get one email when the price hits your target. You won't get a newsletter, marketing, or anything you didn't ask for. Reply to any alert, or email the address below, and the alert and your address are removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — California's CCPA, Europe's GDPR, and similar laws elsewhere — you have the right to know what's held about you, to get a copy, and to have it deleted. Since the only personal thing Scout holds is an email address you gave it, all three requests are handled the same way: email scoutfindr@gmail.com and it's done.

Children

Scout isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has set an alert, email me and I'll remove it.

Security

Alert emails are stored on the server that runs Scout and aren't shared. That said, no small project can promise perfect security, so please don't send anything sensitive — Scout never needs more than an email address, and never asks for payment details, because it doesn't sell anything.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
